You get two designs in this download. The first is a plain witch hat silhouette with a bent, curling tip, a buckled band and a wide brim, for decals, treat buckets and anywhere a shape says “Halloween” without words. The second is a “Witch Please” design: a plain hat in the same shape, without the band, tipped onto the W of a script “Witch,” with “PLEASE” underneath in heavy capitals.
The hat decal is 5.1 x 3.55 inches for adhesive vinyl. “Witch Please” comes in two sizes: 10.1 x 6.75 inches in iron-on (HTV) for an adult shirt, and 3.35 x 2.25 inches in adhesive vinyl for a mug.

Inside the files
The witch hat. Look closely and the hat is three pieces, not one. A gap above the band and another below it separate the crown, the band and the brim. The buckle is part of the band, not a loose piece, and its square window is a real hole you weed out. Those gaps are what make it read as a hat rather than a dark triangle, so we made them wide enough to weed at 5.1 inches. Once weeded, transfer tape holds all three pieces in their places, so you apply the hat in one go.
Witch Please. The script “Witch” is joined up, with the hat’s brim sweeping across the top of the W so the hat looks like it’s sitting on the letter. This hat is a solid silhouette with no band or buckle, which keeps it simple at shirt and mug size. “PLEASE” is a wide, heavy sans serif, which balances the thinner script above it.
Every file was welded into closed paths and checked at its listed size for its material. The shirt version was checked against our iron-on minimums, which are stricter than vinyl because HTV is thicker and tears more easily at thin spots. The mug version is the smallest file in the set, and it’s where the thin brim tips and the script’s loops are closest to the limit.
What you need
- Iron-on (HTV) for the shirt; permanent adhesive vinyl for the mug; permanent or removable vinyl for the hat decal
- Shirt, mug, or whatever you’re decorating
- Standard grip cutting mat (a 12×12 fits the 10.1 inch shirt file)
- Weeding hook
- Transfer tape for adhesive vinyl
- Heat press or iron, plus a Teflon sheet or parchment, for HTV
Making a Witch Please shirt
- Upload the shirt file. In Cricut Design Space, click Upload, then Browse, and pick the Witch Please shirt SVG. Need a refresher? See how to upload an SVG.
- Check the width. It should read 10.1 inches, which is a common front width for adult shirts. Scale it down for a smaller shirt using the table below.
- Mirror and cut. Click Make It and choose your iron-on material. Design Space turns on Mirror automatically for iron-on settings; make sure the mat preview shows the lettering backward. Load the HTV shiny side down.
- Weed. Pull away the background, then pick out the inside of the script loops and the counters in P and A. Watch the thin tips of the hat brim as the background comes away. Our weeding guide helps with the small bits.
- Press. Place the design about three fingers below the collar, centered, cover it, and press with the settings for your HTV and shirt fabric from Cricut’s Heat Guide or your HTV maker’s instructions. Peel the carrier warm or cool as directed.

The mug-size Witch Please file is for adhesive vinyl only. If you want this design on a kid’s shirt, scale the shirt file down rather than using the mug file, and don’t go below the sizes in the table. The brim tips and the script’s joins get too thin for iron-on below that.

The youth range is our suggestion, not a size we checked separately. At 8 inches the details are still about 80 percent of the checked shirt size, which is usually comfortable, but do a small test cut in your HTV before committing a whole shirt. Going smaller than any listed size risks the thin parts, like the brim tips on the shirt design or the band gaps on the hat decal, dropping below what your blade can cut cleanly.
A few ways to switch it up
Try the hat in glitter HTV or holographic vinyl. Big, simple shapes show off a textured material better than lettering does. For a sign, put the hat decal on a small painted board with a name underneath, or pair it with the moon and stars set for a night-sky look.

One troubleshooting note: if the hat band lifts with the background during weeding, weed that area last and pull the background away from the band at a low angle, never straight up.
