If your porch sign has said “Welcome” since last spring, this is a quick seasonal swap. Happy sits in brush script over HARVEST in tall, decorative western-style capitals, and underneath, a small pumpkin nestles between four stalks of wheat.
Both files are 11.1 x 6.5 in, made in adhesive vinyl for a board about 12 in wide. One is a single color (black in the preview). The other splits the same design into two colors: black lettering and wheat with an orange pumpkin.

| File | Size | Material | Layers | Check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Happy Harvest, farmhouse sign | 11.12 × 6.5 in | Vinyl | 1 layer | ✓ Cut-checked |
| Happy Harvest, 2 color sign | 11.12 × 6.5 in | Vinyl | 2 layers | ✓ Cut-checked |
What makes this one a little fussier
The capitals are set in Rye, a display face with flared serifs and a thin decorative line cut through the middle of each letter. That inline detail is what gives HARVEST its old general-store look, and it’s also the part that takes patience. Each of those inner lines is a narrow slot you weed out, and counting those plus the letter counters, the design has more than 20 holes to clear.
That’s why the file is 11.1 in and not smaller. We checked it at that width against our adhesive vinyl minimums (no line thinner than 0.035 in, no piece too small to weed, no gap too narrow to clear), and the Rye inlines are the finest detail in it. Treat 11.1 in as the minimum.
The rest is simpler. Happy is Pacifico, welded so the whole word cuts as one outline. Its descenders drop toward HARVEST, and the capitals are trimmed back around it with a clean gap, so the two words don’t touch. The pumpkin has four curved grooves cut out and a stem with a leaf. The wheat stalks, two on each side, are trimmed back around the pumpkin with a small gap too, which is what lets the two-color file work without any overlap.
What you need
- Cutting machine and a standard grip mat (12 x 12)
- Permanent adhesive vinyl: black, plus orange for the two-color file
- Transfer tape (a standard grip; strong grip can pull paint)
- Weeding hook, with a good light over your work
- A painted or stained board about 12 in wide and at least 8 in tall
- A scraper or old gift card for burnishing
How to make the sign
- Upload the file you want. In Design Space use Upload > Upload Image > Browse; the upload guide covers it. The two-color SVG comes in with its layers already separated. On Silhouette Studio, open the DXF, or the SVG with Designer Edition.
- Check the width. 11.1 in. On a larger board, scale up with the proportions locked; don’t scale down.
- Cut. Pick your vinyl in the Make screen. Adhesive vinyl isn’t mirrored. For the two-color file, Design Space sends each color to its own mat.
- Weed in two passes. First pull away the big background. Then go letter by letter through HARVEST and lift out the inline slots with the tip of your hook, working from one end of each slot. Leave the wheat kernels for last. Our weeding guide has more on narrow pieces.
- Transfer and apply. Cover the design with transfer tape, burnish well, and hinge it at the center of the board with painter’s tape. Lay one half, then the other, burnish again and peel the tape back flat.
For the two-color version, you can move both colors in one go. Lift the orange pumpkin with transfer tape first. Then lay that same tape over the black vinyl, lining the pumpkin up in the gap between the wheat stalks, and burnish. Both colors come up together, already in position, and go onto the board in a single step. Our multi-color vinyl guide explains the method.
Sizes for different boards
| Project | Width |
|---|---|
| 12 x 12 in board or tray | 11.1 in |
| 12 in wide porch plank | 11.1 in |
| Larger board, 16 in and up | 14 in and up (needs a 12 x 24 mat) |
| Canvas tote or pillow cover (cut in HTV) | 13 in and up |
Scaling up is safe. Scaling down isn’t: below 11.1 in, the thin inline cuts in HARVEST and the gaps between the wheat kernels are the first things to get too narrow to weed or to stay stuck on the board. If you want this phrase on a mug, this design isn’t the one; the Rye lettering is too detailed for mug size.
Variations
Warmer colors. Try the two-color file with dark brown instead of black, or cut the pumpkin in cream for a white-pumpkin farmhouse look. On a dark stained board, cream lettering with a rust pumpkin stands out well. Our post on choosing vinyl colors has more on contrast from a distance.
Iron-on. We checked this design for adhesive vinyl, and our iron-on minimum is a little wider (0.04 in instead of 0.035 in). Scaling the file to 13 in or more widens its thinnest lines past that, so it can go on a large canvas tote or a pillow cover in HTV. Press with the settings from the Cricut Heat Guide or your HTV maker, and remember Design Space turns on Mirror for iron-on materials.
For a full fall set, pair it with the Happy Fall Y’all porch sign and our sunflower SVG.
Troubleshooting
If the inline slots in HARVEST tear instead of lifting out whole, the blade probably isn’t cutting all the way through the vinyl. Do a small test cut with your material setting before cutting the full sign. If letters stick to the transfer tape instead of the board, burnish the board side longer and peel the tape back slowly at a low angle.
Questions
What size is the Happy Harvest SVG?
11.1 in wide and 6.5 in tall, sized for a board about 12 in wide. Both the one-color and two-color files are that size.
Can I make it smaller?
We don’t recommend it. The thin decorative lines inside the HARVEST letters are cut-checked at 11.1 in, and below that they can get too narrow to weed.
Do the two colors overlap?
No. The wheat is trimmed back around the pumpkin, so the orange and black pieces sit side by side. You don’t layer anything.
Can I sell signs made with this file?
Yes, up to 500 handmade items per design, but not the digital file. See our license page.
